Council Approves Phase II of the West Main Street Enhancement Project

At the June City Council Meeting, the Troy City Council approved a change order with Holy Contractors of Waco to complete Phase II of the West Main Street Enhancement Project. This change order will allow for the final completion of the West Main and Old Waco Road (Old Hwy. 81) intersection and the rebuild of the failing street areas on North Waco Road by the high school. The Council also authorized staff to seek bids for Phase III of the Project: the repair of the remainder of West Main Street.

This project was made possible due to substantial savings in this year's budget in both the Utility and General Funds. City Administrator Jeff Straub said, “The Mayor, Council and staff budgeted and spent very conservatively this fiscal year. This has positioned the City of Troy to, at the current rate of spending and revenues, have over $133,000 in each fund that would have gone to the City’s already substantial unobligated fund balance (reserves). It is great to be able to utilize these funds to invest in our infrastructure and quality of life projects such as the splash pad.”
